Apple is working on a new iPad with Face ID

The new Apple iPad should integrate Face ID and other features derived from iPhone X.

Apple would be working on a new iPad model that should be presented in 2018. Apple’s next flagship will be equipped  with Face ID, one of the main features of iPhone X along with thinner edges.

The source of rumors – who would be a Cupertino employee – said the tablet would not have an OLED screen and should be similar to the latest iPad Pro 10.5.
Facial recognition, if inserted, will serve both to unlock the device, to make payments or to share animated emotions.

With the new feature, the design will be removed from the home key introduced as a fingerprint reader by 2014.

Just removing the home button, already made on the latest iPhones, should allow Apple to reduce the size of the iPad shell to devote more screen space. It would be the biggest restyling of the line from the iPad Pro debut in 2015.

The doubts concern the screen: to provide OLEDs of the iPhone X is Samsung, but the South Korean company would not be able to do the same for new tablets it would be to be excluded that in 2018 the same technology available on Cupertino smartphones could be integrated. The same problem would also apply to other suppliers.
